Future Places has won the competition to develop the competitive identity and the city brand of Terrassa for its international promotion. The project, led by Juan Carlos Belloso, began last week with a meeting with the City Manager of European and International Affairs, City Marketing and Branding of Terrassa, and it will be publicly presented by January 2018.
The city of Terrassa is in the north-eastern Spain, in Barcelona, Catalonia, and had 215,000 inhabitants as of January 2014. Terrassa’s industrial sector used to focus on the textile industry. After consecutive economic crises in the recent decades, local politicians decided to look for alternatives. Exploiting cultural industries, which are closely related to one of Spain’s main economic sectors – tourism – seemed to be a very timely response, with a particular emphasis on the audiovisual sector.
Future Places has a wide experience in place branding and identity projects worldwide and it has been advising, for many years, city organizations and institutions in the areas of strategy, development, image and promotion. Some examples are the cities of Barcelona, Buenos Aires and Novosibirsk, among others.
